NICKEFFECT Consortium & Review Meeting

NICKEFFECT Consortium & Review Meeting

On the 12nd and 13rd of December, all NICKEFFECT partners got together at the Matgenix offices, located in A6K, in Charleroi, Belgium, to held the last Consortium Meeting of this year and go through the first Review Meeting of the project, in a moment that marks the first year and a half since its beginning.

The multidisciplinary NICKEFFECT team, composed by 12 partners from 7 different EU and HEU-associated countries, had the opportunity to, on the 12nd of December, have a full day meeting with fruitful discussions about the current state of the NICKEFFECT project. The objectives of the project as a whole (as well as the different goals of each of the work packages) were reviewed, a status assessment was carried out on the work done by the several partners since June 2022 and the next steps for each work package were specified, in order to maintain the prosperity of the NICKEFFECT project – always having as final mission the development of innovative ferromagnetic Ni-based coating materials, to replace the scarce and costly Platinum, ensuring high efficiency in key applications.

All partners showed the hard work they have been putting into this project, demonstrating compliance with all the requirements and goals imposed since its inception. Something that was also presented and discussed on the second day of meetings, on December 13th, during the first periodic Review Meeting of NICKEFFECT.

The project’s Review Meeting turned out to be very positive, and overall, got a good review. All NICKEFFECT partners had a very constructive dialogue with the Project Officer and Expert Reviewer about the implementation, results, achievements, main deviations and conclusions of each Work Package since the project’s beginning, as well as the impact and the relevance of the NICKEFFECT project as a whole in the current European panorama in terms of the development of new, more sustainable and less expensive coating materials.

These intense two days ended with a guided tour through the High-Performance Computing infrastructure of Matgenix, the partner that welcomed and hosted all members of the NICKEFFECT project at its facilities in Charleroi.
