Partners in Progress: The NOUVEAU and NICKEFFECT Collaboration for a Sustainable Future
The European Commission is a major contributor to scientific research and innovation, and two projects funded under the Horizon Europe programme are a testament to this. The NOUVEAU project and NICKEFFECT are two innovative initiatives aimed at developing new materials for energy and industrial applications, respectively. Both projects have received funding under the Horizon Europe programme, specifically under the HORIZON-CL4-2021-RESILIENCE-01-12 call.
The NOUVEAU project will focus on the development of solid oxide cells (SOCs) using innovative La- and PMG-free electrode materials, solid electrolyte, and interconnects. The aim of the project is to reduce the amount of rare earth elements (REEs) used in the SOCs by 30% and to use recycled Yt and Cr. The project will employ advanced coating methodologies, modelling techniques, sustainable-by-design approaches, and recycling methods to achieve these goals.
NICKEFFECT, on the other hand, will concentrate on the development of novel ferromagnetic Ni-based coating materials. The project aims to replace the scarce and costly Platinum and ensure high efficiency in key applications. With its innovative approach, NICKEFFECT will help address some of the current challenges facing the energy and industrial sectors.
The collaboration between these two projects is a unique opportunity for both consortia to share knowledge and expertise in the development of new materials. By working together, the projects will be able to achieve a more significant impact in their respective fields, and the results of the work will benefit a wide range of stakeholders. The collaboration between the two projects is an excellent example of how scientific research and innovation can be leveraged to achieve a better future for all.
The collaboration between NOUVEAU and NICKEFFECT marks an exciting moment for the energy and industrial sectors. With their combined expertise and innovative approaches, these two EU-funded projects have the potential to make a significant impact on the world we live in. That is why we are inviting you to join us on this journey towards a more sustainable and resilient future.
In order to keep you informed about the latest developments and results of these projects, we will be launching a joint newsletter. This newsletter will provide you with regular updates on the progress of NOUVEAU and NICKEFFECT, as well as insights into the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead. We encourage you to subscribe and stay informed about the latest developments.
In addition, on May 4, we will be hosting a joint webinar session where you will have the opportunity to learn more about NOUVEAU and NICKEFFECT and the impact that their collaboration will have. This webinar will provide you with a comprehensive overview of the projects, their goals, and the key outcomes that they aim to achieve. The webinar will also give you the opportunity to ask questions and engage with the project teams.
We hope that you will join us in our efforts to create a more sustainable and resilient future. We look forward to your participation in the joint newsletter and webinar session on May 4!
