CEN Workshop: Electrochemical characterisation at laboratory scale of non-noble porous metal-based electrodes for hydrogen generation in acidic medium
A new CEN Workshop is being launched to support the development of non-noble porous metal-based electrodes for hydrogen production in acidic media—a key goal of the NICKEFFECT project. 🔬 About the Workshop As hydrogen production technologies advance, the continued reliance on platinum-group metals (PGMs) presents significant economic and sustainability challenges. To address this, researchers are exploring alternatives based on non-noble metals. However, this emerging field lacks standardized laboratory protocols, resulting in inconsistent data and difficult result comparisons. This CEN Workshop aims to bridge the gap between research and industrial application by developing a CEN Workshop Agreement (CWA). The goal is to define harmonized laboratory-scale testing protocols for non-noble electrodes used in hydrogen evolution reactions (HER) in acidic media. 🎯 Workshop Objectives The Workshop will deliver a CWA that provides: Guidelines for constructing and setting up an appropriate electrochemical cell Standardized electrochemical techniques for evaluating catalytic activity and durability Key operating...
