NICKEFFECT participates in joint webinar organised by NOUVEAU and EMMC

The NICKEFFECT project will participate in a joint 4SEE Cluster webinar titled "Advances in Materials Modelling: From Atoms to Industrial Application", organised by the European Materials Modelling Council (EMMC) and the NOUVEAU project. This collaborative event, scheduled for June 18, 2025, will bring together experts from NICKEFFECT, NOUVEAU, MOZART, and FreeMe to discuss innovative approaches in materials modelling for innovative metallic coatings and engineered surfaces. The NOUVEAU project, alongside its sister initiatives including NICKEFFECT, is dedicated to the development of innovative, safe, and sustainable-by-design metallic coatings and engineered surfaces. This joint webinar underscores a strong commitment to cross-project collaboration, aiming to propel European advancements in materials science through the implementation of shared strategies and methodologies. During the webinar, representatives from each project will deliver concise presentations outlining their specific approaches to materials modelling. The talks will highlight key areas such as: Density-functional theory (DFT): Exploring its application in understanding material...

CEN Workshop: Electrochemical characterisation at laboratory scale of non-noble porous metal-based electrodes for hydrogen generation in acidic medium

A new CEN Workshop is being launched to support the development of non-noble porous metal-based electrodes for hydrogen production in acidic media—a key goal of the NICKEFFECT project. 🔬 About the Workshop As hydrogen production technologies advance, the continued reliance on platinum-group metals (PGMs) presents significant economic and sustainability challenges. To address this, researchers are exploring alternatives based on non-noble metals. However, this emerging field lacks standardized laboratory protocols, resulting in inconsistent data and difficult result comparisons. This CEN Workshop aims to bridge the gap between research and industrial application by developing a CEN Workshop Agreement (CWA). The goal is to define harmonized laboratory-scale testing protocols for non-noble electrodes used in hydrogen evolution reactions (HER) in acidic media. 🎯 Workshop Objectives The Workshop will deliver a CWA that provides: Guidelines for constructing and setting up an appropriate electrochemical cell Standardized electrochemical techniques for evaluating catalytic activity and durability Key operating...

Webinar: How CAE Improves the Manufacturing Process of Ni-based Porous Electrodes (June 10, 2025)

NICKEFFECT project partners, Vrije Universiteit Brussel and Elsyca, are pleased to announce a webinar on the application of Computer-Aided Engineering (CAE) in the manufacturing of Ni-based porous electrodes. The webinar will take place on June 10th at 10:00 CET. Speaker: Florin Muntean, Senior Engineer at Elsyca Florin Muntean specializes in surface finishing simulations and customer training for electrochemical process modeling. With over 15 years of experience, he has supported numerous industrial clients in optimizing plating surface processes using simulation tools. He holds a Master’s degree in Automation and Computer Science from the Technical University of Cluj-Napoca.
